Project Description
In May 2019 the recently built road interchange between Carrera 16 and Avenida La Toma in Neiva was awarded the CEMEX prize in the category of civil infrastructure. Pedelta is proud to have collaborated in the design, including the main bridge, road design and architectural design. This new interchange has improved the average traffic speed and reduced the users’ travel times along these two major streets with heavy traffic.
The bridge is a cast-in-place prestressed concrete voided slab with an overall length of 152.2 m with seven spans of 18+ 5x23 +18 m in length. The deck width is 20.5 m and accommodates four lanes, two for each direction, and a bike lane. The deck has a constant 1.15 m depth along its entire length. Inside the slab are 13 lightening cylinders of 0.6 to 0.75 m in diameter.
The piers have two circular columns of 1.5 m in diameter. They stand on deep foundations made with 1.0 m diameter drilled shafts. The piles reach 16 m in depth.
