Descripción del Proyecto
Pedelta was awarded the detailed design of the substructure of six vehicular bridges (two permanent and four temporary) during the construction of the White River Hydro Project in northern Ontario. This hydro project is a joint venture of Regional Power with Pic Mobert First Nation. There are two separate generation sites at a 10 km distance.
The bridge superstructures consist of simply supported spans built with modular panel steel trusses (Mabey bridges), ranging from 20 to 30 m in length and 7.2 m in width that accommodate two lanes. One of the main challenges was the layout of the bridges such as to minimize the site impact and to accommodate the bridges in complex mountainous terrain with steep rock-cuts and high grades. The design required 3D models to determine where to place the bridges.
Foundations consist of cast-in-place concrete stub abutments on sound rock or compacted granular fill. The design was made per CAN/CSA S-6 Code.
